Hands-on Mathematical Sculpture Construction with George Hart

Hands-on Mathematical Sculpture Construction with George Hart

Monday, Oct. 14, 5:30 PM
Simons Center for Geometry and Physics Lobby

George Hart will lead an informal event in which participants will work together to construct a large wooden geometric sculpture.  The result will be a prototype for a possible, permanent, future sculpture.  No special skills or experience is necessary.  We may get a bit dirty, so don’t wear your fanciest outfits.

For a sense of what is involved, note that Hart previously led a “sculpture barn raising” of a large metal sculpture in the Computer Science building on campus, which can be seen in this video:

Monday’s activity will be similar, but simpler, so we should be finished in an hour or so.
