Abstract:
I this talk I will review a CFT based phenomenological approach to the classification of fractional quantum Hall states. I will discuss the implications of the theory for the observable properties of the fractional quantum Hall systems with an edge. I will then focus on recent quasiparticle tunneling experiments and their interpretation within the phenomenological theory.
