Abstract:I discuss a novel contribution to the Casimir vacuum energy which can not be expressed in terms of conventional propagating degrees of freedom. Instead, it is formulated in terms of the tunnelling transitions between topologically different but physically identical states.
The talk is based on arxiv: 1301.1706; 1308.1960 +few new formulae on the Berry’s connection.
