This workshop marks the start of the program “Geometry of Quantum Hall States” at the SCGP. While the program mostly focuses on recent advances in the geometric approach to the quantum Hall effect, the purpose of the workshop is to encourage a broader discussion of the role of geometry in condensed matter systems. Some of the main topics of the workshop are:

– Quantum states in geometric backgrounds
– Effective field theory and geometric responses of condensed matter systems
– Adiabatic transport driven by geometry
– Transport properties in inhomogeneous backgrounds
– Bulk-boundary correspondence of QH states and topological phases
– Entanglement in QH and strongly correlated states
– Hydrodynamics of quantum fluids
– Applications of methods of Conformal Field Theory and Topological Field theory to condensed matter systems.

This workshop is a part of the Spring 2016 program, Geometry of Quantum Hall States, which is organized by Sasha Abanov, Tankut Can, Anton Kapustin, Paul Wiegmann. This program takes place from April 18 – June 17, 2016.
