The Simons Center for Geometry and Physics congratulates our colleague John Pardon on being awarded the 2026 Fields Medal, one of the highest international honors in mathematics.
Presented every four years by the International Mathematical Union, the Fields Medal recognizes outstanding mathematical achievement and is awarded to mathematicians whose work has made profound contributions to the field.
Pardon shares the 2026 honor with Yu Deng (University of Chicago), Jacob Tsimerman (University of Toronto), and Hong Wang (New York University and Institut des Hautes Études Scientifiques).
Pardon was cited for “his achievements in symplectic geometry, including new approaches to virtual fundamental cycles, Fukaya categories of Liouville manifolds and counting holomorphic curves, and for his contributions to other areas of geometry and topology, including group actions on 3-manifolds and knot theory.”
We congratulate all four recipients on this extraordinary honor and celebrate their contributions to the advancement of mathematics.
