2023 Simons Math Summer Workshop: August 7-25, 2023

Organized by Mark Gross (Cambridge) and Mark McLean (Stony Brook) in collaboration with all Simons Center senior faculty in mathematics: Simon Donaldson, Kenji Fukaya, John Pardon.

SIMONS MATH SUMMER WORKSHOP

Capitalizing on the success of Simons (physics) summer workshops, in their 20th iteration for the summer of 2023, the Simons Center for Geometry and Physics is proud to host the 1st annual Simons math summer workshop.  The workshop will take place for 3 weeks, August 7-25, 2023.

The Simons math summer workshops will bring together mathematicians working in a circle of related areas, to learn more about the techniques and results of nearby lines of research, to support the research community, and to foster collaboration.

The 2023 Simons math summer workshop will revolve around three principal themes. In the first week, the theme is the Strominger-Yau-Zaslow mirror symmetry conjecture, with a focus on recent progress on the conjecture and related topics. In the second week, the talks will revolve around approaches to relative and logarithmic Gromov-Witten theory in symplectic and algebraic geometry. Finally, the third week, will focus on integrable systems methods in enumerative geometry

In each week, there will be a lecture series given by several of the main experts in the respective fields, along with a small number of individual seminar-style talks by other participating experts. The number of talks will be limited, however, allowing ample time for collaborative research. New and continuing collaborations will be encouraged to blossom.

Each week we will host a banquet for participants as well as a few other social activities that will be announced as we get closer to the start of the workshop.
